We are all born with the sacred tool of intuition. We know when we follow our heart, things tend to work out best for everyone, because when we listen to our heart and use our intuition we have access to the divine wisdom that helps our soul reach its full potential. Sound meditation is a supreme way to enjoy a strong and blissful connection to our heart and its intuitive guidance. This workshop is a gong bath sound meditation enhanced with vibrational herb extracts and mantra chanting. We will feel and know the presence of our intuition and appreciate its use in a more natural ongoing practice.

The Ethics of Working with GLBTQ Clients for Massage Therapists

As the U.S. continues to move forward with becoming more accepting of the queer and trans population, it is important for massage therapists to have the professional awareness and language to serve this population. During this 90-minute class you will be presented with a list of terms and definitions for the spectrum of people who do not identify as “straight” (heterosexual) or “cisgendered” (a person whose self-identity conforms with the gender that corresponds to their biological sex). You will leave this session with an increased awareness of the issues that arise for GLBTQ folks so that as a massage therapist you will be better prepared to serve this population. This class will also explore the increased likelihood for GLBTQ folks that they have experienced trauma—and therefore the importance of having an increased awareness of the impacts of trauma in bodywork.

Combine this two-hour CE class with one of the other two ethics classes being offered to meet the Washington State Massage Therapist CE requirement for professional ethics.

Instructor: Andrea Seabert. Andrea has worked on issues of diversity, social justice, and power and privilege for over 30 years. She completed a Master of Social Work at the University of Washington and has worked at The Evergreen State College for the last 15 years engaging students in restorative justice and conflict resolution. Aromatherapy is a powerful natural tool to aid you in your search for well-being.  Learn the basics of creating your own natural perfumes and healing oils.  In this class you will learn:

v     How the oils affect your brain and emotions

v     The blending classifications

v     The chords of the perfume top, middle and base notes

In the first half of this Playground you will meet and work with your Spirit Guides through a relaxed guided meditation. Imbuing candles with our intentions and feelings is one of the oldest forms of magic known. In this class, we will go over: choosing the right candle, colors and their meanings, commonly used symbols and personal symbolism, a brief guided meditation to help you imbue your candle, along with a reference guide outlining some magical applications of essential oils. You will be creating your own special heartfelt candle in class, using 100% beeswax candles; we will be using organic essential oils to anoint them. This is a fun-filled class, full of love, laughter and magic!

Did you know that 70% of our immune activity takes place in our gut? Therefore, keeping a healthy digestive system is very important. Healthy bacteria and probiotics in our diet are vital to achieving this balance. Julie Martin, founder of Oly-Cultures, will lead this class and show participants how to create their own water kefir. Water kefir is a wonderful lactose-free alternative to milk kefir and goes through two fermentations—full of the healthy bacteria and probiotics needed to help keep our digestive system in a balanced state. Enjoy samples of organic fruit- and herb-flavored water kefir at the end of the class.

Learn to listen and observe the language of your body to harness the gifts and wisdom of the menstrual cycle.

Keeping a balanced perspective between science and intuition, we will explore the different hormones and energies in each stage of the menstrual cycle. We will work with both a moon dial and a fertility awareness chart to track fertility signs, creativity levels, physical and emotional signs of the different stages of the cycle and how they relate to the moon and the seasons.

The tools provided during this class can be used to understand your cycle’s unique patterns, work with your body, flow with your creative energy, and optimize your productivity.

This will be a fun journey into the medicinal properties, historical uses, and magical lore of three very common, yet powerful plants: Calendula, yarrow, and dandelion. This medicine grows commonly where we live, yet is sometimes overlooked in favor of rare plants of distant lands. We will discuss the power of “medicine of place,” the beauty of healing from what we can find in our own backyard! Learn how and when to safely harvest and process these plants as well as how to make medicinal preparations including tinctures, infused oils, decoctions, and infusions. Everyone will take home beautiful medicine and new skills!

Instructor: Kate Abarbanel. Kate works at Radiance Herbs & Massage on the retail floor, as well as blending and packaging the medicinal teas. She is a folk herbalist who has a deep relationship with the green world.
