Himalayan Pink Salt

Radiance is excited to offer Himalyan Pink Salt.  Mined from ancient ocean beds crystallized from seawater over 250 million years ago, Himalyan Pink Salt is one of the most natural, pure, and versatile salts in the world.  Ideal for both culinary and therapeutic uses--known for its unique flavor and complement of 84 elements (which give it it's unique pink/red color)--Himalyan Pink Salt will be a wonderful addition to your kitchen and bath.

Use Himalayan Pink Salt in the kitchen as you would any table salt and enjoy the benefits of its purity and rich mineral content.  In the bath, Himalayan Pink Salt soothes sore muscles, enhances circulation, and aids the removal of toxins.

Bath Salt Recipe:
1 cup Epsom Salts
1 cup Himalyan Pink Salt
15-30 drops Essential Oil
1 tsp Almond Oil (or other carrier oil)

1 tsp powdered or fine herbs
¼ tsp baking soda

Mix salts together in bowl.  Separately, blend essential oils and carrier oil, then add to salts.  Mix well.  Blend herbs into mixture, or sprinkle on top.
Use ½ to 1 cup per bath.  Makes 2-4 baths.

Radiance also carries decorative glass jars of varying sizes, which make beautiful packaging for your salts!

Body Scrub Recipe:
Makes 5-8 applications

Himalyan Pink Salt: 2 cups
Base oil (grapeseed, almond, or an oil blend): ¾ cup
Essential Oils: 30-40 drops of your choice

Thoroughly mix together sea salt and base oil.  Once blended, add essential oils, taking care to add slowly, mixing each drop into the salt-oil blend.  Once blended, scoop into a glass container for storage.
You can also add herbs to the scrub, such as lavender or calendula.  Powdered herbs mix best.

Nasal Irrigation for Babies!

As a natural health store with a baby and children's section, we often get mamas, papas, and caregivers in lamenting about the effictiveness of their nasal aspirator. As a mom of a three year old, I remember how tough it was to get all the gunk out of my little guy's nose when he was sick, and how worried I was that he couldn't breathe fully!

Well, Dr. Hana at Nasopure has come up with a fabulous nasal aspirator that we've brought into Radiance! Called Baby Comfynose, it truly seems to work wonders. Dr. Hana is a pediatrician who has created a wonderful line of nasal irrigation systems for adults and children down to two years old.

From her website: "Teaching the art and science of nasal washing has been Dr Hana's passion with the ultimate goal to reduce medication use in the community. She lectures to all audiences, including medical physicians, naturopathic doctors, nurses & nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists and consumers."

Watch the video below, and see firsthand how wonderful this product is!

Here's a sneak peak of the inside pages:

From their website:

Who have you come here to BE? 101 Possibilities for Contemplation is part daily reader, part spiritual practicum. Drenched in gorgeous imagery, each powerful page invites readers to dance, to leap, to sit still, to stand tall as they ponder the question, “Who have I come here to be?”

The 101 possibilities the authors offer for contemplation are grouped into chapters that correspond to the four classic elements of fire, earth, water, and air with a fifth chapter dubbed “Cosmic Consciousness.” Like an alchemist’s effort to find prima materia, (the formless base from which all things are formed), this is one journey that will undoubtedly lead to the hidden treasure of your prima materia awaiting discovery within you. Mychelle Serums at 20% Off

As most of you probably know by now, Radiance brought in Colorado-based skincare line Mychelle Dermaceuticals.

For a limited time you can purchase Mychelle SERUMS at 20% off.

A little more about serums, from Mychelle's website:

Facial serums address a multitude of skin issues. Whether wrinkled, aging, sun damaged, acne-prone, or rosacea-prone conditions are your concern, each serum targets where it's needed most, and keeps your skin on track to becoming - and staying - healthy and beautiful-looking.
A good skin care regimen is important to maintaining the health and beauty of your skin — that's a fact. A gentle cleanser, balancing toner and nutrient rich, hydrating moisturizer are key components to any daily program, but as skin ages, experiences damage from sun exposure, or distressing breakouts pop up, a little extra defense is warranted. Enter serums, powerful treatments designed to zero in on a specific need.
Serums, by virtue of their thinner consistency and strong delivery vehicles, penetrate deep within the skin, quickly releasing their corrective ingredients where they can have the strongest effect. And since they are designed for targeted action, they can be layered for multiple issues (ie, sun damage, dehydration)...
...All of MyChelle's intensive serums are designed to be used daily, on freshly cleansed skin, prior to toner and moisturizer and may be layered one over the other* for multiple corrective effects, if needed. The bioactive ingredients are all at levels proven to be effective in clinical studies, assuring you the most powerful results possible. In the ever-evolving world of skin care, one thing is certain, MyChelle facial serums are an innovative blend of natural technologies and an important part of your healthy skin care regimen.

Stop in today and take a look at our selection of these wonderful serums.

Damiana Cordial for Valentine’s Day

Damiana [Turnera diffusa] is a shrub native to the southwestern U.S. and Central America. It has an affinity for the nervous system and, among other attributes, it has a wide reputation as a relaxing aphrodisiac in its native range. In Mexico, for example, damiana liqueur is sold in distinctive bottles.

Damiana cordial can easily be made at home. The key is to let the preparation age long enough to let the flavors fully blend and develop. A little goes a long way; damiana cordial is meant to be sipped and savored.

This is perfect to share with a loved one…or to give as gifts. Begin your project now so that it will be matured by mid-February.

Here are some basic proportions. You can increase the recipe if desired.

1 oz dried organic damiana leaves
1 organic vanilla bean, split and chopped
2 cups brandy
1 ½ cups water
1 cup raw local honey
¼ cup rose water or hydrosol [optional]

Soak the dried damiana leaves and chopped vanilla bean in brandy for five days. Strain and reserve the alcohol in an airtight jar.

Place the strained, brandy-saturated damiana and vanilla in a separate jar and add the water. Mix well and let sit for three days.

Strain. Reserve the water in a fresh container. Compost the spent herb.

Warm the water extract gently in a pot over low heat. Dissolve the honey into this.

Add the sweetened water extract to the previously made alcohol extract and stir well.

Pour into sterilized bottle[s], label, and let age for one month or longer.

Can use as is or serve with a splash of rose water or hydrosol. Enjoy!

The Quick Version—

1 cup of vanilla extract
2 T damiana leaves
1 T honey or maple syrup

Stir well and let mixture sit for one week. Strain through cheesecloth and bottle.

Many thanks to Diana De Luca for the inspiration. Check out her wonderful book Botanica Erotica, which makes a fantastic complement for amorous gifting. It is full of delicious recipes to nourish the playfulness of body, mind and spirit.
