The Return Of The Light

Twelve Tales from Around the World for the Winter Solstice
by Carolyn McVickar Edwards

The winter solstice, the day the "sun stands still," marks the longest night and the shortest day of the year, and it comes either on December 20th or 21st. Celebrations honoring the winter solstice as a moment of transition and renewal date back thousands of years and occur among many peoples on every continent. The Return of the Light makes an ideal companion for everyone who carries on this tradition, no matter what their faith. Storyteller Carolyn McVickar Edwards retells twelve traditional tales—from North America, China, Scandinavia, India, Africa, South America, Europe, and Polynesia—that honor this magical moment. These are stories that will renew our wonder of the miracle of rebirth and the power of transition from darkness into light.

Upcoming Class: Cell Level Meditation

Cell Level Meditation focuses awareness on the smallest unit of life for the purpose of healing. By meditating with the cells, you begin to awaken to the vast potential within yourself—to move to levels of greater self-awareness.
By simply looking at something, you change it. So in Cell Level Meditation, you look into the cells of your body, and then go into the cells and become them, using the timeless technique of combining awareness with the breath. Perhaps for the first time you direct this ancient technique of awareness at the smallest unit of life: the cell. In the last few years, cell biologists have shown how dramatically we can influence our health and well-being all the way down to the level of our cells.
This workshop is an introduction to a meditative tool that is very easy to learn and powerful to use for anyone who wants to increase awareness and enhance the mind-body connection.
The book, Cell Level Meditation: Breathing with the Wisdom and Intelligence of the Cell by Patricia Kay and Dr. Barry Grundland, is available at Radiance.

Upcoming Class: Changing Woman

Saturday, September 26 or Saturday, November 14 11am to 3pm

“I’m interested, but I’m not quite there yet.” Is this your response? I encourage you to consider the truth that for most women, perimenopause is a journey lasting many years, bringing with it subtle or not-so-subtle changes in emotional stability, sexual interest, sleep patterns, flexibility, hair, skin, muscle tone, urinary continence, as well as the infamous hot flashes, heavy bleeding, altered cycle length, cramping, and so on. There are often multiple waves of varying signals announcing that the change is underway; each woman is unique and yet we are all going through this together. There is no time like the present to learn more about what your bodymind is undergoing and how to support your particular process with tonifying plants.
Learn ways to navigate hormonal changes [and herbal and medical advice!] without losing your mind, your job or your relationship! Spend an afternoon with other women exploring ways to reorient your health and your emotional experience so that the next phase of life is not a “withering” but an ever more beautiful expression of your whole self. Herbs, foods, essential oils, flower essences, and other approaches can be of great assistance in dealing with this powerful transition.
Please join us and bring a friend. You will walk away with a wholistic picture of what is happening as well as many specifics to help guide you on. There will be an assortment of tasty supportive foods and teas for you to sample. Taught by herbalist Carol Trasatto. Class size is limited so please register early.

Cost: $75 includes supplies and many handouts $65 each if two friends register and pay at same time To register: Call Radiance at 360-357-5250.

Chakras

Energy Centers of Transformation
by Harish Johari

In Chakras, Indian scholar and tantra practitioner Harish Johari introduces the classical principles of the chakras as well as their practical application for today. In this expanded edition, complete with new art and text, he unfolds the mysteries of these subtle centers of transformation with visualization techniques essential to a fully realized tantric practice. Unlike other books in its field, Chakras provides the tools to activate these centers of transformative energy and elevate one's intellectual knowledge to an experience of spiritual growth.
